Find Contracts by Product or Service With PSC Search
PSC search is the product-side companion to NAICS search: it finds the Product Service Codes the U.S. government assigns to every product it buys, so you can search federal contracts by exactly what you sell. The video above is a quick walkthrough.
What PSC codes are
Where NAICS codes classify industries, PSC codes classify products. Sell t-shirts? Men’s outerwear is PSC 8405 and women’s outerwear is 8410. Every product category the government purchases has its own number, and solicitations are tagged with them.
How to use PSC search
- Look up your product. Type what you sell into PSC search and SAMstream digs through the archives for every matching code. Broad products can return thousands, so pick the codes closest to your catalog.
- Search opportunities by code. Drop a PSC code into an opportunity search to see everything the government is currently buying under it.
- Automate the net. Add your codes to an auto search so new postings under those codes come straight to you.
Codes plus keywords win
Contracting officers do not always tag postings with the right code, so pair PSC codes with simple keyword terms for the widest coverage. Our guide to NAICS and PSC codes explains how the two systems fit together.
