What NAICS codes are
The U.S. government assigns a NAICS code to every industry. Whatever you sell or do, there is a code for it, and agencies use those codes to classify the work they post. How to use NAICS search
- Search by keyword. Type a single term like “janitorial” or “transportation” and SAMstream lists every related code. Some industries return hundreds, so scan for the ones that genuinely match your work.
- Use codes in your searches. Take a code and drop it into an opportunity search to catch postings that keyword searches might miss, especially when an agency labels a project differently than you would.
